The birthing process may be one of the most traumatic events of our lives. Dr. Abraham Towbin, a Harvard University pathologist, found evidence of spinal injury as a result of the birthing process. He said this was due to “precipitous delivery techniques,” meaning excessive intervention both mechanically and physically. Modern obstetrics seem to emphasize speed of delivery rather than safety of delivery. These methods can stress an infant’s spine causing iatrogenic subluxation. This spinal stress can irritate the nervous system causing a variety of newborn health complaints.Because we don’t commonly associate neck problems with seemingly far removed conditions like asthma, insomnia, excessive crying, loss of appetite, hyperactivity, and ear infection, the cause often goes undetected.
It is a good idea to have your children checked for nerve interference due to subluxation, whether they have outer symptoms or not. If they have symptoms that are not responding to current treatment, a visit to a chiropractor should receive high priority. It’s a fact that many spinal problems in adults begin in childhood. All infants should be checked for subluxation. If neglected, the bumps and falls may lead to serious spinal problems later in life.
If you live in the Cincinnati area and have a child that is struggling with health issues give me a call.
