A fluid swing requires maximum-joint-function throughout the body. Any reduction of joint function, will not only increase the chances of injury but will also change the characteristics of the golfer’s swing, which will contribute to a loss of swing velocity and improper impact position.

Many golfers overlook the obvious, they eagerly spend thousands of dollars on clubs and lessons, yet they ignore the most important component in their game, their body and its ability to move properly.

As we age “all” of our golf swings change. Anyone that follows golf knows that Tiger Woods has been relentlessly working on a new swing. Yes, even Tiger is susceptible to the aging process. His mechanics are amazing but they are changing.

Common complaints and injuries in order of prevalence from playing golf:

Sacroiliac pain

Lower back pain

Mid back pain

Neck pain

Shoulder pain

Elbow pain

Knee pain

If you are suffering from any of the above or you just want to maximize your body’s function, call me before your next tee time at 513-791-8110.

Yours in Health, Naturally!

The two main causes of Sacroiliac Pain:

1. Trauma – Due to lifting, slipping, or sudden unexpected movements.
2. Poor Posture – Due to occupation (improper workstation fit) or bad habits. It can take years in some cases for pain to manifest from postural problems.

How do I know that the pain is coming from my Sacroiliac Joint?

This question can only be answered after a thorough history has been taken, followed by an examination and the appropriate diagnostics. In many instances, an individual suffering from a sacroiliac problem will have trouble turning over in bed or getting out of a chair.

My treatment goals for patients with sacroiliac problems:

1. Pain reduction.
2. Stabilizing the patient’s posture.
3. Restoring normal function to the patient’s sacroiliac joints.
4. Creating an exercise regiment to help prevent future problems.

Sacroiliac problems are very common. I tend to see more of this type of problem in the spring and the fall, usually from sports in the springtime and yard work in the fall. So if you live in the greater Cincinnati area and feel like you may have a sacroiliac problem, give me a call.

The piriformis muscles are deep and are responsible for rotating our feet outwards. Due to the proximity of the piriformis muscles to the sciatic nerves problems can and do occur. If the piriformis muscle goes into spasm it can choke or press on the sciatic nerve causing pain to radiate down into the leg(s). If you are experiencing sciatica it may be due to a piriformis spasm. You should have this evaluated to determine what is causing your leg pain. This is a common syndrome that I have treated many times. If you live in the greater Cincinnati area and are experiencing leg pain give me a call.
